Fiesta Japanese Cheesecake

My mum bought this Japanese cheesecake from the Ichiban outlet at Ang
Mo Kio Hub. The mere sight of this cheesecake made me retrospect myself
back then when I was young (primary school), when I eagerly peered into the
box as my mum began to lift the cake slowly out of it. I just could not wait
for my mum to cut finish and I started pinching off tiny portions to nibble.

Alright, enough of past stories. Upon opening the box, I was greeted warmly
by the Fiesta's cow with its chef hat on, smiling happily at me. It just looked
too adorable to be eaten!

Sorry cow, but I had to slice you up into many slices in order to enjoy the
cheesecake you were 'printed' comfortably on. My advice is that it should be
served chilled. The cake itself was spongy and really soft (even a toothless
person could enjoy). The centre portion is usually my favourite part as the
edges tend to be slightly harder. It is also light and airy and I could have
easily finished half of the entire cake.

Sins Chocolate

This is what I bought for my mum for Mother's Day. A box
of chocolate from Sins. At first, the name 'Sins' sounds
rather unholy to me but I just approach the counter to have
a peep at its chocolates. This lovely packaging with red
ribbon looks suitable as a Mummy's type of present and I
bought it, hoping that it would be nice.

It was mentioned by the sales assistant that it was an art-like design. It was
sprinkled with dried tea leaves (I supposed) and it reminded me of a summer
harvest theme.

The dark chocolate was more of the bendy and sticky type which
gave a little more challenge to break. Infused with the essence
of mint which gave a refreshing feel too. However, those decorative
tea leaves were a hindrance to eat as they were hard and invoked
spitting. A disruption to the enjoyment of eating the chocolate.
(Mummy did not seems to enjoy ; I will improve on my choice for
the next Mother's Day present!)

Soup Guru

Located at the Food Junction of Somerset 101, I went to try out Soup Guru
with Gbk (he ate a popiah instead).

Situated at the corner of the floor. The sight of those steaming big pots were
rather obvious that it was Soup Guru.

My Pumpkin Rice ($1.50) that went with a bowl of Ginko Pork Tripe Pepper
Soup ($5.50).

The rice was really tasty by itself and I could have easily gobbled up 2 bowls.
Traces of pumpkin and dried shrimps could be found in the rice.

The soup was peppery and spicy! Perfect choice during a rainy day when
you wanted to sweat it out. Those ingredients were definitely not my liking
as I ordered it just for the peppery soup. They were too chewy and
weird for me to handle!

I tried dipping the ingredients into dark sauce and they tasted much better.
Continuously dipping them made the dark sauce diluted as soup kept dripping
in. I don't mind going back again to try out other soup variety. (A good news
for soup lovers like me because the soup was refillable!)

Go Kueh Kueh

'Go Kueh Kueh' is an outlet located at Khoo Teck Puat Hospital's food court.
After my Fish & Co. Express meal, I decided to have some desserts and
ordered the first 2 kuehs that caught my attention. The first choice was
kueh lapis ($0.70) as it was my favourite kueh! It was firm, chewy and was
slightly below room temperature (chilled). The best part was it being less
sweet (maybe hospital food focused on being healthier?). The next choice
was a bad one and it was the durian puff ($1.20). Blame it on my own
desperate urge for durian that day and furthermore, the filling was actually
durian flavoured custard (maybe hospital did not allow smelly food). The
puff was rather dry too and I did not enjoy it.
